Eager to find a second trimester to do list? Here you go!
Congrats mama! You are through the first trimester! Hopefully, nausea, aversions, and all the other not-so-pleasant first trimester symptoms have eased up for you.
Welcome to the BEST season of pregnancy. This trimester is when I felt like myself again. It was SO much more comfortable. (I would even take the third trimester over the first). Speaking of comfort- have you bought a pregnancy pillow yet? During the second trimester, sleeping will likely become more difficult due to your growing belly. A pregnancy pillow is a necessity. I highly recommend this one!

When does the second trimester begin?
When researching when the second trimester begins, there are many mixed answers online. This really frustrated me. So I asked my doctor and he told me the 14th week starts the first trimester. So that is what I went with!
Enjoy your second trimester to do list!
Second Trimester To Do List
Week 14- Announce Your Pregnancy!
When you decide to announce your pregnancy is totally up to you. Many mamas like to wait until the first trimester is over to announce the good news. Since this week is the start of the second trimester, now is a great time to announce your pregnancy!
Week 15- Buy Maternity Bras & Underwear
If you haven’t already bought maternity bras and clothes, you have to pull the trigger on this! As a new mama, I made the mistake of waiting too long to invest in maternity bras. This bra was my best friend during pregnancy. They are soft, light, and SO COMFORTABLE on sensitive boobs. I even continued to wear this comfy bra during the fourth trimester.
These underwear were a total game-changer. Regular underwear just does not cut it during pregnancy. These are the underwear you need. They are super soft and just the right amount of stretchy. It honestly feels like you’re not even wearing underwear. They will ALSO grow with you from the first trimester to the end.
Week 16- Continue/Finalize Your Baby Registry
You may have already started creating your baby registry. I began mine during the first trimester. If not, go ahead and create your baby registry! If you have already gotten started, continue adding to your baby registry and work on finalizing it. Are you looking for help creating your baby registry?

Week 17- Read Pregnancy Books
Now is a great time to read all the pregnancy books! My personal favorite is the classic What To Expect When You’re Expecting. Pregnancy apps are a fun way to stay up to date on the size of your baby and what is going on with your body, but nothing beats a book. This book is a must-read for new parents.
What’s next on the second trimester to do list?
Week 18- Think About Your Birth Plan
Begin thinking about your birth plan. How do you want to deliver? Do you want to hire a midwife or a doula? It is worth it to think about the support you want early on. Pregnancy is so beautiful but it can also be stressful. This is why having a support system is crucial.
Week 19- Save Your Money
Making a plan for saving money is next on the second trimester to do list. If you have not already started saving your money, do it now! It is no secret that babies cost a lot of money. Take my advice and save money BEFORE your baby is born. Of course, you will want to save as much money as possible. The earlier you start saving the better!
PRO TIP: I also strongly recommend setting up some type of investment account for your baby. We set up an investment account for our daughter. This account accrues as years goes by. It is so nice knowing that this account grows over time. Our goal is to give this to our daughter once she turns 18.
Week 20- Anatomy Scan
Around week 20, you will have your anatomy scan. This is a fun one! If you didn’t get genetic testing done during the first trimester, this is the week you learn the gender. If you choose to! The ultrasound technician will take a bunch of measurements to check on the growth of your baby.
Note: If you do not wish to know the gender, tell your ultrasound tech at the start.
Week 21- Shop!
Here is a fun activity for the second trimester to do list. Happy shopping! Take your time exploring all the beautiful nursery furniture. There are SO many. If you are anything like me, you take your time before committing. Enjoy browsing and I hope you find the most beautiful furniture for your little bundle of joy.

Week 22- Gender Reveal Party
Have a gender reveal party! I am TOO IMPATIENT to wait to find out the gender with the rest of my family. So my husband and I find out the gender together. THEN we reveal it to our family later.
At our gender reveal, we had our family guess the gender first. After guessing they bit into cupcakes to discover whether we were having a boy or girl. Once they took a bite they saw it was filled with pink icing.
Week 23- Narrow Down Baby Names
I am SURE you have probably already begun discussing baby names with your partner. This is one of my favorite things to do on the second trimester to do list. Who am I kidding? I totally started this conversation during the first trimester.
For us, picking a first name was easy. It was the middle name that took us many weeks to finalize.
Take this week to narrow down your baby’s name. I like to do that around this time and let the names marinate until the due date.
Week 24- Viability Week
Hooray, it is viability week! In other words, if your baby arrives early, they have a good chance of surviving. Congrats on this pregnancy milestone!
Let’s continue to the last few activities on the second trimester to do list.
Week 25- Plan Baby Shower/Baby Sprinkle
If you are having a baby shower or a baby sprinkle, happy planning! Send out invitations to your friends and family AND prepare to be loved on. You deserve it.

Week 26- Order Your Breast Pump
As a new mama, I did not realize that breast pumps are covered by most insurance plans. Information totally worth knowing about! So call your insurance company and find out when you need to order your breast pump.
Week 27- Visit Your Dentist
Hormonal changes takes a toll on your gums. The last thing you want to end up with is gum disease. Schedule an appointment to see your dentist. Make sure the dentist office knows that you are pregnant. No, thank you x-rays!
