Every mama is dying to know all about HOW to survive the first trimester. Since 70-80% of pregnant women experience morning sickness, there is a good chance you will experience good ole’ nausea. Unless you’re one of the lucky ones! I certainly was NOT one of them.
Besides morning sickness you may also feel super unmotivated, tired, moody, increased hunger, and frequent urination, among other other lovely symptoms.
Before unpacking all the helpful tips that will help combat nausea, you need to know upfront just how amazing this tea is. I ACTUALLY enjoyed drinking it. One of the powerful ingredients in this tea is Ginger. Not only does Ginger help with nausea, but it also contains antioxidants and digestive enzymes. Also known to ease heartburn and constipation- other wonderful pregnancy symptoms!

Surviving First Trimester
1. Lemon Water
This is number one for a reason. I added lemon juice to my water EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! I swear by it. Whenever I felt nauseous I added lemon juice to my super cold ice water and man this was SUCH a big relief. Even if it was just for just a bit. It felt really nice.
Sometimes I like to change it up a bit and add lemon juice and ginger to hot water. This was ALSO super helpful. Other benefits of lemon juice include Vitamin C and Folic Acid!
2. Morning Sickness Tea
I briefly mentioned how helpful this tea was for me during the first trimester. I think you’ll REALLY enjoy the ginger and peach combo in this tea. It is caffeine-free and made up of Red Rooibos Leaves and Ginger Root. Such a stomach settler!
3. Peppermint
Peppermint has been helping combat morning sickness for hundreds of years. I do not leave the house without my mints. These are my favorite ones!
4. Crackers
Saltine crackers are a great way to help settle your stomach. When you’re feeling nauseous nibble on some crackers. Never leave the house without a snack mama! Many mamas feel worse when they have an empty stomach.
5. Rest
Between morning sickness and fatigue, you need all the rest you can get. If you can take a nap, DO IT! I was on the same nap schedule as my toddler and it was JUST what I needed.
6. B6 & Unisom
You may find relief from taking Unisom and Vitamin B6. Many mamas find this remedy to be helpful during the first trimester. Check with your doctor to see if they recommend that you take it.
7. Small Snacks & Meals
You may notice that when your stomach is empty you feel nauseous. Do yourself a favor and eat smaller meals AND eat every few hours.
8. Sea-Band Wristbands
These are not super discrete, but they are very helpful when dealing with nausea! Give them a try. I am sure you’ll be thankful for them!
9. Maternity Wear
The bloat is so real during the first trimester. If this is not your first rodeo, you are probably showing earlier than you were with your first pregnancy. Go ahead and pull the trigger on buying maternity clothes. Here are some of my favorite maternity must-haves:
- Maternity Bra- I practically lived in this maternity bra. This bra was insanely comfortable during pregnancy AND while breastfeeding.
- Maternity Underwear- You can actually grow with these underwear. Grab some!
- Maternity Leggings- These are super affordable AND super comfortable. You’ll want to grab these in several different colors.
These must-haves will help with surviving the first trimester!
