Are you searching high and low for the best Montessori toys for 1 year old babies?
Before becoming a stay-at-home mama, I was an elementary teacher for 9 years. So I am very familiar with Montessori and have always been drawn to this learning style.
What amazes me about Montessori is that students are able to self-select what they would like to work on and really take charge of their learning. This promotes intrinsic motivation, which is critical in life. I especially love that children of various ages are in one classroom and that teachers cater to all students’ academic needs. With this said, I am always eager to expose my daughter to toys that will promote her cognitive development. Montessori toys do just that.
When my daughter reaches school age, she will definitely be learning in a Montessori classroom. No doubt about it! I observed several Montessori classrooms and I was truly mind-blown. I could go on and on about my love for Montessori learning. It is important to me to introduce my toddler to Montessori toys. Let’s get into where to find the best Montessori toys for 1 year old babies!

Best Montessori Toys For 1 Year Old
While researching Montessori toys for 1 year old babies, I came across Lovevery. I love that this company creates play kits that are developmentally appropriate for your little darling. These kits include 2-3 months of toys to engage your little one and promote brain growth.
I am all about the toys that are going to enhance cognitive development. So of course I had to get my hands on one of these kits. Lovevery kindly sent me the Adventurer play kit so that I can share my daughter’s experience with you. Here is an honest opinion of the best Montessori toys for 1 year old boys and girls.
Let me begin by saying I so appreciate the play guide the kit includes. It shares how to introduce the toys, tips from the experts, development information, and what to do at home to support your little one. It also includes a recommended timeline for introducing the toys within the kit. There are even additional activities that you can easily do at home with your toddler to support their development. These Montessori toys for 1 year old babies are so worth it.
Book
The play kit includes a book that they recommend you begin with. We all know toddlers experience really big feelings. Just the other day during a game of peek-a-boo my daughter was laughing. The next minute she started crying. Does this sound like your toddler?
This book includes different emotions. Emotions that toddlers can certainly relate to! When the little boy in the story fell, my daughter reacted by saying, “Uh oh!” It was really cute seeing her react to the story. As a former teacher with a master’s in reading, I am a huge advocate for books that connect to future learning activities and teach kids how to deal with emotions. Lord knows our toddlers need this! Mine sure does.
This book was a great introduction to the next activity in the play kit.
Race & Chase Ramp
This Montessori toy is amazing. My daughter was instantly obsessed and it quickly became one of her favorite Montessori toys. This activity includes a steep race track and two cars. I showed her how to place the cars on the track and she loved watching the cars race to the bottom.
It was comical watching her work to improve her fine motor skills. Initially, she had some difficulty placing the cars on the track. She quickly figured out how to position her hands. This toy brings a huge smile to her face.
I really love that the race track is color coded with the race cars. This is a great opportunity to teach my one-year-old colors.
This is one of our family’s favorite Montessori toys for 1 year old toddlers.

Fuzzy Bug Shrub
This activity comes with a canister full of bugs that are made to peel and stick to the outside of the canister. The other objective for toddlers is to open and close the lid of the canister.
My daughter loved exploring all the fuzzy bugs. She had no issue at all peeling the bugs from the outside of the canister. However, putting them on was quite the challenge. It took her a few tries to figure this out. Another obstacle was opening the lid. She experienced lots of frustrating moments before she was able to ultimately open the lid. That is okay though because a comfortable struggle is healthy. Toys that are challenging are something I look for when shopping for Montessori toys for 1 year old babies.
I really enjoyed watching her carefully plan how to open the lid. She would grunt and hand it to me for help. I modeled how to do it, but I also encouraged her to keep trying. It is so important to teach persistence at an early age.
Turning the canister upside down and watching the bugs fall out was the highlight!
Wooden Stacking Pegboard
The next activity came with a pegboard and pegs. I really love all the learning opportunities that this activity brings. The pegs are different colors. So we practiced our colors by sorting them. We counted the blocks and I showed her which piles had more and less.
It was so helpful that the play guide reminded me what my child is understanding at this age and ways that I can facilitate her development.
I appreciate that it takes perseverance to reach the learning goal for each activity. This is one of the very important practical life skills I want to instill in my daughter. Putting the pegs on the board did not come easy. It took modeling, guiding, and lots of independent practice.

Community Garden Puzzle
This garden puzzle has small knobs that help your baby improve their fine motor skills.
I enjoyed showing my daughter what food is grown in a garden. Many of these plants were already familiar to her, which is wonderful. She really loved studying the different puzzle pieces.
I showed her how to make the puzzle pieces fit and how to take them out. Taking the puzzle pieces out came very naturally to her. Putting the puzzle pieces together proved to be more difficult. I expected this and enjoy that she can continue to work toward mastering this objective. I am so thrilled with this play kit. This brand offers so many great Montessori toys for 1 year old boys and girls that are worth introducing to your little one.
Threadable Bead Kit
This activity came with string and beads. My daughter loved playing with the beads. Some beads were easier to thread than others. She will continue to practice threading the beads. I liked that some beads are easier to thread. This allows her to start out easy and work her way up to the harder beads.
The play guide reiterated that this is a challenging task for toddlers at this stage and that they usually master this objective between 20-23 months. It is so nice knowing that I have toys that will continue to challenge and motivate my baby girl.
These Montessori toys for 1 year old kiddos have brought so much joy and excitement to our family.
My Final Thoughts
These Montessori toys for 1 year old toddlers are phenomenal. Before introducing Montessori toys to my daughter, I noticed that she would become bored easily. For this reason, I wanted to buy toys that were going to stimulate her mind and help her grow. I want her toys to support her gross motor skills, eye coordination, her brain development, and XYZ!
I also love and appreciate that it takes time to master the objective that comes with each activity. There is a purpose for every toy and for that I am grateful. I know she is too.
This experience has been so much fun for both of us. Would I be interested in getting my hands on another play kit? You bet!
