After reading this post you are going to master playroom organization!
This post is all about playroom organization.
Best Playroom Organization Ideas
Do you want an organized playroom? I will make it very easy for you.
Before beginning to design your playroom, you want to think about how your family will be using this space. Will your whole family use this room? Will one child be using this playroom? Or will multiple children be sharing this room? Do you have a small space? Or a large space? How will your kids use this playroom? All of these questions should be thoroughly thought out before getting started.
Playroom Organization Furniture
Toy Bench
If you have a small space, you want to buy furniture that is multifunctional. Consider this toy bench that can also be used for additional seating. I love the mint color and really love that the bench has cutouts on the sides, making it super easy to grab and move. Your kids can cozy up on this bench to read or play with their toys. A toy bench is one of my many favorite playroom storage ideas! I had one in my room growing up and still have it to this day.
Art Table
I love having an art table in the playroom. I think having a space for children to express their creativity is super important. This art table is the best one EVER! The corners of the table are rounded, making it a safe spot for your babe. There are storage hooks for hanging art accessories like smocks, aprons, or anything else your little one desires! The other side holds paper and makes it very simple for your little one to grab paper whenever their little heart wishes. Your child can also use the bar to dry their artwork. In addition, there is an artist tray for your kids to store art items. In my opinion, this little art table is a playroom must-have!
Bookcase
We are huge book lovers in our house. In our office, we have a built-in bookcase that takes up an entire wall. So of course, baby needs a bookshelf in her space too! This bookcase is both beautiful and perfect. It is low, which makes this the best bookcase for any playroom.
PRO TIP: You are going to want to make sure items in the playroom are easily accessible to your kids.
Shelves
Shelves are a great way to maximize space. These cube organizers are perfect for playroom organization. You can buy however many you need and use these to store all your kiddos toys. They also are great for storing games and puzzles.
Playroom Toy Organization
This is the part that can be tricky to both organize and maintain.
There are so many ways to organize toys, so choose the way that works best for your family. Here are just some ideas that I use and love.
Toy Bench
The toy bench linked above makes both a perfect place to rest and store some toys. Of course this bench will not store all of your little one’s toys, but it is a great place to store some favorites.
Cube Organizer
This cube organizer is a great for toy storage. I love shelves! Simply buy however many shelves you need. You can also buy baskets that will easily slide in and out. These baskets are a perfect fit and come in a variety of colors.
As I mentioned above, this is a great place to store games and puzzles. If you choose to do that, you wouldn’t need baskets.
Acrylic Display Case
These display cases make for a great storage cube. You can use these to store and display so many items like legos, toy cars, action figures, you name it. I am a huge fan of clear bins. This way you can easily see what is inside. There is no confusion of what goes where!
Clear Stackable Bins
I also love clear stackable bins. These clear stackable bins are amazing.
Categorize the toys your little one has place them in these clear stackable bins. Feel free to label these. Personally, I don’t label these since you can easily see inside of them. These bins make playroom storage a breeze.

Playroom Organization Bins
I mentioned some organizational bins in the above section that are perfect for toy storage. Here are a few more of my favorite playroom organizational bins!
Large Floor Baskets
Large floor baskets are great storage bins for stuffed animals. These look so cute and are super efficient in the playroom.
Clear Lazy Susan
You can’t go wrong with a lazy susan. You can use them for literally anything and they work in any space! The fridge, under the sink, and even in your babe’s playroom. They are the perfect tool for storage and help you get organized. This lazy susan is the perfect fit for your child’s art table! Store art accessories like colored pencils, crayons, and more.
Playroom Organization Hacks
The Power Of Music
When I was a teacher, I used to make cleaning up fun and efficient by playing a song for cleanup. Pick a song that your child loves. It can be anything. Don’t be afraid to switch it up! The kids understood that they had until the end of the song to put all of the items back in their home. The duration of the song was all the time they had to clean and store the toys. This will help with toy clutter big time! It will also teach your kids how to organize. Making organizing a part of the play time routine is essential.
Zones
Create zones. If you choose to have a bookcase with books in your playroom, create a cozy corner where your child can snuggle up and read. A little reading nook goes perfectly with a bookcase. Have a zone with all the art things. You can have a zone for games. A zone for imagination for when your child wants to play pretend. You get the picture. You want to carefully think which zones you want to create before you begin designing your kids playroom.

Playroom Organization Ideas
Do not feel the need to keep every single toy your child has ever been gifted. Donate toys as you buy new toys. In order to maintain organization, you need to purge when you need to.
Another one of my favorite organization ideas is to add a hanging shelf to your space. This can be both decorative and functional. I love this hanging shelf. The removable baskets add warmth and texture to your space and also provide you with additional storage. You can also dress it up by showcasing some of your kiddos toys on the top shelf.
One of the most important playroom ideas to remember is to buy furniture that is easy for your kids to reach. After all, it is their room!
Small Playroom Organization Ideas
If you have a small playroom, don’t be afraid to utilize wall space. The wall can be used to showcase toys, store items, or even decorative items.
Add a rug to your small space to add to the charm and make it feel cozier.
Add a tall bookcase or two to help create an organized playroom. Another option is to customize built-ins to help with room organization. My husband did this in our office, which is a small space, and we love it! This helps a lot with organization.
Playroom Closet Organization
A closet is always a great storage solution.
Elfa Custom Spaces is a great storage system for any closet. It maximizes your closet space in your home.
Before you get busy, I strongly suggest sitting down and making a list of all the things you want to include in this storage space. If you have bulky or tall items, take the height of these into consideration when customizing your closet. Before buying any baskets for storage, categorize all like items. This will give you a sense of how many baskets you’ll need to purchase.
Here are some great closet storage ideas:
- Use baskets to contain like items.
- Use the closet to store bigger items that your child does not frequently play with.
- Store items that are reached for less often at the top of the closet.
- Utilize labels so your little one and family members know where things are.
- Circulate items like toys and books. Use the closet to store books and toys your child is currently not playing with. Circulating toys and books keeps your little one from growing bored. It is nice for them to notice a new toy or book in their playroom.
- Don’t be afraid to use the closet doors for additional storage.
